LSU Vice President for Agriculture and College of Agriculture Dean Matt Lee hosted the inaugural LSU Ag Tailgate on Sept. 21 before the LSU Tigers took on the UCLA Bruins. The LSU Ag Tailgate, presented by Zen-Noh Grain Corporation, brought more than 300 Ag supporters, stakeholders, faculty, staff, alumni, and their families and friends together to celebrate before the big game. Attendees enjoyed a buffet of delicious food, Dairy Store ice cream, LSU ag swag and live music by Swampland Revival (pictured below).

In August the College of Agriculture welcomed more than 200 incoming Tigers to campus at an open house, which helped the students connect with faculty. The students beat the heat with a snowball or homemade watermelon smoothie and explored diverse programs and the Hill Farm Teaching Facility on campus. Photo provided by LSU College of Agriculture

College of Ag Supporters Raise Funds for Students in Golden Boot Giving Challenge

Each year, the LSU Tigers and Arkansas Razorbacks fight for the glory of the "Golden Boot" on the football field. Off the field, LSU and the University of Arkansas battle to see which college of agriculture has the most supporters in the Golden Boot Giving Challenge.

The challenge is not based on which college can raise the most money, but which college can gain the most individual donations. This year the LSU College of Agriculture outraised the University of Arkansas Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences. LSU supporters gave $3,305, while Arkansas raised $2,147. However, Bumpers College took home the trophy because their 153 donors outnumbered the 132 who gave to the LSU College of Agriculture.

All funds raised from the challenge will go toward each college's respective student support fund. The LSU fund, named the LSU Ag Student Success Fund, helps students in times of hardship and also supports college programming and professional development for students.
