(11/04/24) ALEXANDRIA, La. — The Louisiana Forage Conference will be held Friday, Dec. 13, near Alexandria. This conference is sponsored by the Louisiana Forage and Grassland Council and the Louisiana Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative.
The meeting site will be the State Evacuation Shelter near the LSU Alexandria campus on U.S. Highway 71.
Presentations will be made on topics such as grazing sheep under solar panels, beef cattle research, high intensity grazing and weed management strategies.
The keynote speaker will be Allen Williams, who will make a presentation on regenerative agriculture. Williams pioneered many of the early regenerative grazing protocols and now teaches these practices to farmers globally.
Registration and viewing of commercial exhibits will begin at 8 a.m. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. A catered lunch will be served at noon.
The registration fee is $25. Preregistration is available at www.louisianaglci.org/events. Cash, check or credit card payments can also be made at the conference.
Anyone interested in forage production and management is invited. Attendees will be able to join the Louisiana Forage and Grassland Council at the meeting for $35. Membership in the council is not required for attendance.
