River Region Jr. Ag Leadership Program

The LA River Region Jr. Ag Leadership program was developed to help young leaders interested in agriculture careers and want to gain knowledge and skills regarding where their food and fiber come from, the various agriculture sectors of production agriculture, and research and extension programs. They will enhance leadership skills and learn how they fit into the future of agriculture. This is a two-year course of study that prepares young people who are dedicated to agriculture for the leadership challenges of the future.

The Jr. Ag Leadership Development Program includes speakers, on-site tours, personal skills improvement, and meetings with business and government leaders. The program goals include:

  • Develop leaders who understand and prepare for global influences and opportunities
  • Develop leadership skills and awareness in participants, so they become confident, effective communicators.
  • Development participant understanding and involvement in the social, economic, and political systems to improve their enterprises and communities.

Requirements

  • Be an active participant in all seminars. Refer to the application for dates
  • Must be in the 10th grade during the 2024-25 school year
  • Must be a good-standing 4-H member
  • Fee: $50, which includes Jr. Ag Leadership Shirt, Travel Expenses, and Meals
