(08/27/24) ALEXANDRIA, La. — The LSU AgCenter’s upcoming Soybean Production School will highlight several strategies for growing a better crop.
The Sept. 10 event will run from 4 to 6 p.m. at the AgCenter Dean Lee Research and Extension Center adjacent to the LSU Alexandria campus. Attendees should report to the State Evacuation Shelter on U.S. Highway 71.
A meal will be provided at the conclusion of the program.
Topics and speakers will include:
— Seed treatments, variety testing and effects of planting date, desiccation and harvest timings by AgCenter soybean specialist David Moseley.
— Disease identification and management by AgCenter plant pathologist Boyd Padgett.
— Remote sensing and sprayer drones by AgCenter engineer Randy Price.
— Control strategies and resistance monitoring for redbanded stink bugs by AgCenter entomologist James Villegas.
— Herbicide management decisions by AgCenter weed scientist and Central Region director Daniel Stephenson.
