Small Footprint Animal Agriculture Workshop

One of the most common questions we get in Extension is how can I accomplish my agricultural goals while remaining within a set of parameters. The goal of this workshop is to provide producers knowledge and inspiration to make the best use of whatever space they have available to them whether it be a 2,000 square foot yard in a subdivision inside city limits or 20 acres in a rural area. This workshop is focused on the housing requirements and general husbandry of five commonly raised agricultural animals in our region.

Topics will include:

  • Back Yard Poultry Flock Considerations presented by Myrl Sistrunk
  • Swine Production presented by Tyler Braud
  • Rabbit Production presented by Chase Domangue
  • Forage Management presented by Tripp Morgan
  • Small Ruminant Production presented by Ashley Edwards
  • Small Acreage Cattle Production presented by Tripp Morgan

The workshop will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the LSU AgCenter Ouachita Parish Auditorium, 704 Cypress Street, in West Monroe, Louisiana. The workshop will be from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break. Lunch will not be provided.
