Vickie Weeks has been an exemplary figure in the 4-H community for nearly six decades, showcasing unwavering dedication and leadership. Beginning her journey at Ebarb High School in Sabine Parish, she quickly rose through the ranks, from a dedicated member to assuming leadership roles. Her active participation in contests, public speaking engagements, and camp counseling underscore her multifaceted involvement and commitment to 4-H activities. The core of her efforts revolved around empowering youth to recognize and actively engage in the betterment of their community. She made it a priority to ensure all students had access to 4-H by recruiting community members to sponsor those in need. This eliminated financial barriers, enabling wider participation. Through service-learning initiatives like the “Toys for Kids” drive and collecting aluminum tabs for Ronald McDonald House, members not only collected items but actively participated in delivering them, fostering empathy and a sense of responsibility towards those in need. Her contributions expanded beyond local chapters, serving on advisory boards, foundations, and as a vital segment in all aspects of the 4-H community. These endeavors weren’t seasonal; they were sustained efforts year after year, emphasizing consistency and commitment to community welfare.
