EBR Master Gardeners present sensory gardens, houseplants April 18

(04/02/24) BATON ROUGE, La. — On Thursday, April 18, the East Baton Rouge Master Gardeners will present a program on both sensory gardens and houseplants at the Carver Library, 720 Terrace St.

Master Gardener Lynn Pennington will show how to make a garden awaken all the senses.

Pennington, a retired geriatric nurse practitioner who became a Master Gardener in 2018, will explain not only what to plant but where to plant it and the various sensory features that can be especially important to the elderly, especially those with dementia.

Master Gardener Kelly Hebert grew up in Zachary and got into gardening when one houseplant quickly turned into 100. She became a Master Gardener in 2021 and will be sharing her tips on houseplant care along with details on some of her personal favorites and some of the hardiest houseplants to own. If you love houseplants but have trouble keeping them alive, you will want to join Hebert for her presentation.

The program begins at 5:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
