The following are mini grant opportunities that have been offered to parish 4-H Youth Development extension agents to support local programming for youth.
Entrepreneurship Mini Grant
$16,315 distributed over two years.
Estimated Reach: 1,174 youth.
Sponsor: Mott Foundation.
This mini grant aims to create opportunities for teens to cultivate and strengthen entrepreneurial thinking and skill sets, such as problem-solving, financial wellness, resourcefulness, perseverance, creativity and resilience.
Healthy Living Mini Grant
$78,740 distributed over four years.
Estimated Reach: 10,903 youth.
Sponsors: Walmart Foundation and National 4-H.
The Walmart Healthy Habits program empowers 4-H parish programs to provide high quality health education to limited resource populations of youth across the state.
National Days of Service Lead Agency Grant
$23,500 distributed over four years.
Estimated Reach: 92,000 people have been reached through the 9/11 Day of Service, MLK Day of Service and Global Youth Service Day mini grants.
Sponsors: Youth Service America and Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.
The purpose of the grant is to activate young people to find their voice, act and acquire powerful civic and 21st century skills as they solve problems facing their community.
Youth Wetlands Program Grant Opportunity
$17,600 distributed over one year.
Estimated Reach: 4,297 youth.
Sponsor: Youth Wetlands Program which is sponsored by the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority.
The purpose of these grants is to support wetland and coastal preservation programing. An estimated 899 hours of programing will be supported through these grants.
STEM Mini Grant
$140 distributed, in addition to the opportunity to select STEM kits each year.
Estimated Reach: 1,953 youth,
The grant supports agents conducting STEM programming in their parish by providing for costs associated with becoming an Aerospace Education Member. Members are entitled to request a variety of free STEM kits each year.
