Ag outlook forum set for Jan. 10 in Alexandria

(12/19/23) ALEXANDRIA, La. — The LSU AgCenter will host a daylong agricultural outlook forum Jan. 10 to help crop, timber and cattle producers prepare for economic decisions they will face in 2024.

The forum will be held at the State Evacuation Shelter, 8125 U.S. Highway 71, adjacent to the LSU Alexandria campus.

The program will feature LSU AgCenter administrators and economists along with agricultural producers, lenders and policy experts. Their presentations will cover the following topics:

— Production costs in 2024.

— Outlooks for corn, soybeans, rice, cotton, sugar, cattle and forestry.

— The farm bill and agricultural policies.

— Trends in agricultural lending rates.

— Managing inputs during challenging times.

Doors will open at 8:30 a.m., with talks starting at 9 a.m. and ending by 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
