Louisiana Farm to School Conference set for Oct. 11 in Baton Rouge

(08/30/23) BATON ROUGE, La. — Join Seeds to Success: The Louisiana Farm to School Program for the seventh annual farm to school conference at the Pennington Biomedical Convention Center on Oct. 11, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will emphasize three main components of farm to school: education, school gardens and local food purchasing.

The conference will gather participants from across the state for an opportunity to share, learn, celebrate and inspire the movement of bringing healthy, local, sustainably grown foods to the minds and plates of students in Louisiana and beyond.

Attendees can attend in-person sessions guided by farm to school champions from across Louisiana. Sessions will focus on school gardening, child nutrition, food safety, barriers of farm to school, sourcing local food in schools and success stories from current participants in farm to school from around the state. In addition, the gathering will feature a venue for networking in a relaxed, face-to-face environment, allowing participants to grow lasting connections.

“Our team is pleased to offer the seventh statewide farm to school conference,” said Crystal Besse, Louisiana Farm to School Program Director. “This conference provides the opportunity for those doing farm to school activities to network, share and grow new connections with other supporters of the local food systems movement.
