Co-Op Camp

Up for a challenge? Want one more memorable 4-H experience this summer? Are you creative? Do you enjoy working with others? You won’t want to miss the 2023 Cooperative Business Teen Conference! Incoming 9th-12th grades are invited to attend! At the event, participants will compete in teams to establish and manage their own cooperative businesses. In the process, 4-H’ers will have opportunities to sharpen their leadership, marketing, money and management skills with guidance from industry leaders. The conference will be held at the Wesley Center in Woodworth La. from July 31st- Aug. 2nd. It is generously sponsored by the Louisiana Council of Farmer Cooperatives. The deadline to register is Friday, April 28th! Contact the 4-H Office to register!

Crowley Art Association Youth Programs GALA

Please join us at a gala to celebrate the young artists of Crowley Art Association Youth Art Collective, Acadia Parish 4-H Art Club and Rebekah Richard’s Wednesday Afternoon Art Class. This gala will take place on Friday, May 5, 2023, from 6-8 PM at the Crowley Art Association Gallery (411 N. Parkerson Ave Crowley, LA 70526). Art will be on display through May 26th.

Explore & Save our Resources Day Camp

Explore and Save our Resources Day Camp will be hosted by the Acadia Soil and Water Conservation District and Louisiana Project WET. Participants will visit with multiple state agencies and learn about conservation of natural resources through hands on activities and demonstrations. Participants will learn how to create their own solar oven, visit the mobile Conservation Classroom, learn about watershed and much more throughout the day. This camp will be held at the Acadia Parish Extension office and the Rice Arena on June 29, 2023. This camp is open to all 4-6 graders in Acadia parish. Cost to attend is $30, lunch included and we will be swimming! Registration closes on May 30th.Please register at https://acadia-4-h-foundation.square.site/

Lego Camp

We are hosting a Lego camp on June 27, 2023, from 9 am to 3 pm at the 4-H office. This camp is open to all 3rd-5th graders. Participants will explore and create LEGO items with an emphasis on engineering and construction. They will think critically as they use their imagination while building solutions to challenges. Most of all, we will have FUN while building Legos! The cost to attend this camp is $10. Lunch will be included. Spots are limited, so don’t wait to register. Registration will close on May 30th. LOST Camp

LOST Camp is back and being held July 31- August 3, 2023! Camp Grant Walker is looking forward to having our youth back at camp this year! Registration for LOST Camp will open in the 4-H Online system on MONDAY, May 1, 2023. The deadline to register for camp is Friday, July 14, 2023. THERE WILL BE NO LATE REGISTRATIONS ALLOWED. Cost to attend is $175 this year including a t-shirt. LOST Camp is open to all active Louisiana 4-H members who will be completing grades 7 and 8. Acadia parish will have a quota of 3 campers for camp, and unlimited alternate campers. These spots will be filled on a first come first serve basis. Contact the 4-H Office to register. Youth will be able to participate in two of these track options: Food and Fitness, Meat Science, ATV Safety, Outdoor Skills, Drones, and Wetlands. Campers will also have recreational time to play various sports, archery, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and line dancing. Other choices include team-building activities, performing arts, visiting with friends, and shopping for souvenirs in the Camp Store. Evening programs include skits and Vespers.

Sewing Camp

Once again, we will be hosting a summer sewing camp open to all 4-H members in Acadia Parish at the Acadia Parish Extension Office (157 Cherokee Drive Crowley, LA 70526) on June 29-30, 2023. No sewing experience necessary! Due to the limited space, 4-H’ers will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis with a paid registration fee and all completed forms. Registration and fees are due May 5, 2023. A waiting list will be maintained for alternates. Registration forms are included in the registration link https://tinyurl.com/4HSewCamp. Pick up and drop off times will be 2 PM and 5 PM each day respectively. The registration fee is $25 and covers snacks, drinks, and some supplies. Youth can bring a sewing machine if they have one. If not, sewing machines will be provided by the 4-H office. Once registration closes, a required supply list will be sent to all participants.

Sewing Club Exhibit Show

Local 4-H quilters in the Acadia Parish area and members of the 4-H Sewing Club are hosting their second annual exhibit show and gala, on April 24 at the LSU Ag Center located at 157 Cherokee Dr. from 5:00-7:00 pm.

Attendees will see on display amazing quilts that the youth have spent months piecing together. They will be able to participate in quilting demonstrations, have a chance to lay a couple of stitches on an in-progress quilt, learn about the quilters of Gee’s Bend and more. It is free to attend, but feel free to support our club by visiting the bazaar where you will find small sewn or quilted items to purchase and larger items to bid on in our silent auction.

Attendees can learn more about the 4-H Sewing Club and the 4-H Summer Sewing Camp onsite at the show.

WOW: Wonders of Wetlands Camp

Thanks to Acadia Parish 4-H member & Louisiana 4-H Wetland Ambassador, Branson Melancon, for creating a wetlands day camp for 7-8th grade members held on Monday, June 12, 2023 at Palmetto Island State Park (19501 Pleasant Rd, Abbeville, LA 70510).Youth will participate in activities such as fishing, hiking, wetland and animal identification, canoeing etc. Acadia Parish will be able to send 3 youth to this event. Registration will be on a first come first serve through 4-H Online. Registration is due by May 19, 2023.The cost to attend is $25 per camper. T-shirt will be provided. Youth should plan to arrive by 8:45 a.m. and depart at 4:00 p.m. Please contact the 4-H Office to register for the event.
