Summary

Cool-season color is an unheralded hero in the landscape. That’s why we are naming Supertunia Mini Vista Indigo a Louisiana Super Plant. The Supertunia Mini Vistas bring some added excitement beyond that of the other Supertunia Vistas such as Bubblegum. The mini part of the name indicates smaller flowers, which really bring some wonderful texture to the landscape and have a unique look that sets them apart. While we really like all the Supertunia Mini Vista varieties, Indigo stands out among the crowd as it brings a unique color pattern, extreme flower density and excellent vigor to the landscape. Best grown in full sun, these make an excellent addition for the cool season, providing color, texture, and appeal from November through April. These plants also do great in containers, so adding them to planting boxes and pots is an easy way to add a splash of cool-season color.

Requirements

  • Does best in full sun (more than six hours daily) but can also be planted in part sun (four to six hours daily).
  • Does best in raised beds, needs well drained soils.
  • Irrigate regularly during drier periods.
  • Soil pH should be maintained between 5.5 and 6.0 for best performance.

Growth Habit

  • Mounding and trailing in landscape. Mounding and spilling in containers and hanging baskets.
  • Grows 6 to 12 inches tall and spreads to about 24 inches wide.
  • Looks great when planted in masses.

Care and Maintenance

  • Fertilize lightly once established (four to six weeks after planting) to promote healthy growth throughout the summer. A second dose of fertilizer in spring will help sustain blooms into May.
  • Does not require pruning or deadheading. However, light pruning of spent branches will promote added growth.
