Edible Book Contest

This contest celebrates National Library Week and invites youth to ‘Find Your Joy’ through books, creativity, and food. It is open to all youth in grades K–12 who attend school and/or reside in St. John the Baptist Parish.

Contest Rules

    1. Entries must be made from edible materials only.

    2. Each creation must represent a fictional or nonfiction literary work. Edible books may take the shape of a book, depict a character or scene, reproduce a book cover, or creatively interpret a book or title.

    3. All entries must be family-friendly. Judges may dismiss any entry deemed inappropriate or offensive.

    4. A photo of the book cover must accompany each entry.

    5. Participants are encouraged to choose a book that brings them joy, in celebration of National Library Week’s theme, Find Your Joy.

Awards Given

  • Best in Show - This edible book has it all: creativity, polish, and flare.
  • Funniest/Punniest - The edible book entry will most likely put a smile on your face! Clever, humorous, or super-silly, it makes your stomach roar with laughter and rumbles with delight.
  • People’s Choice - The general public will vote on their favorite edible book
  • Find Your Joy Award - For the edible creation that best reflects happiness, positivity, and joyful storytelling

Registration Information

The deadline to register for this contest is THURSDAY APRIL 2, 2026! 4-H members and youth not involved in 4-H can participate in this contest. Use the registration link below to register.

Edible Book Contest Registration

Entries must be submitted on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Leroy D. Williams Memorial Library (Reserve Branch) between 5:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
