Spring Cookery Contest

Calling all inspired chefs! Join us for our Spring Cookery Contest on Monday, April 14, 2025. This contest is open to both 4-H members and Cloverbud members.

NEW - All dishes must be dropped off at the St. John Parish 4-H Office (151 E. 3rd St., Edgard, LA)

Cookery Contest General Rules:

  • 4-H'ers can only submit one dish per category
  • Non-edible items are NOT to be presented as part of your dish or garnish. Only edible items can be used as garnish.
  • Limit dishes submitted to three (3) serving sizes ONLY.

The following commodities and divisions will be offered:

  • Beef - Ground Beef
  • Beef - Other Beef Cuts
  • Egg - Appetizer/Side Dish
  • Egg - Main Dish/Salad
  • Egg - Dessert
  • Louisiana Commodities - Pecan
  • Louisiana Commodities - Rice
  • Seafood - Crab
  • Seafood - Crawfish
  • Seafood - Shrimp
  • Seafood - Other Louisiana Seafood
  • Sugar - Candy/Other
  • Sugar - Pies
  • Wild Game - Deer
  • Wild Game - Fowl
  • Wild Game - Other Game

Those 4-H members who place 1st in their respective category will represent St. John Parish at the Southeast Region Culinary Arts Contest on May 13, 2025, at the Livingston Parish Sheriff Office Training Facility, 29384 Woodside Dr., Walker, LA 70785.
