AgCenter opens registration for beginning cattlemen class

(03/28/22) FRANKLINTON, La. — New cattle producers looking to beef up their knowledge of animal and pasture care can enroll in the LSU AgCenter’s beginning cattlemen class.

The course will consist of five daylong meetings, with one to be held each month from April to August at the AgCenter Southeast Research Station in Franklinton. The first meeting is slated for Friday, April 29.

Registration costs $250 and must be completed by April 22.

The program is designed for cattle producers with fewer than five years of experience as well as those interested in starting beef cattle farms. Participants will attend classroom sessions and have opportunities for hands-on training.

Topics to be covered include animal handling, health care, nutrition, reproduction, genetics, marketing and pasture management.
