The East Feliciana 4-H Program's mission is to provide meaningful opportunities for all youth within the parish to create sustainable community change. As part of the nation's largest positive youth development organization, we accomplish our mission by providing opportunities for youth to participate in hands-on projects within our three (3) primary content areas or mission areas – civic engagement and leadership, healthy living, and science.
4-H provides unparalleled opportunities for our parish’s youth to develop leadership skills, self-discipline, team-building, and social skills in a diversified environment. For many, 4-H is a catalyst for future success in education, employment, and civic involvement.
While 4-H has worked consistently to keep the costs of these opportunities as low as possible, many families within East Feliciana Parish struggle to pay the fees necessary for their children to attend these events, especially when there is more than one 4-H’er in a household, and many teenage 4-H’ers in our area are faced with funding their own expenses. The recent increase in costs, while necessary, has amplified the challenge for many East Feliciana families, which is why we are requesting your support of a new parish-wide initiative for our youth.
The Friends of East Feliciana 4-H Scholarship Program will provide the financial support necessary for East Feliciana 4-H members to participate in 4-H Summer Camp, Louisiana Outdoor Science & Technology (L.O.S.T.) Camp, 4-H University (formerly known as 4-H Short Course), Junior Leadership Conference (JLC), 4-H Cooperative Enterprise Leadership Conference, Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF), and so much more. Scholarships will be available to all East Feliciana 4-H members, and recipients will be selected by our club leaders and community volunteers based on the 4-H'er’s participation and achievement in 4-H at the local and parish level in areas such as club programming, leadership, and citizenship activities, project book completion, and fundraising. We want every East Feliciana 4-H'er who demonstrates a willingness to work hard and an interest in bettering themselves by representing our parish at a 4-H event to have that opportunity, financial status notwithstanding.
