ADA Accommodation

Entries are due 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2025.

This contest is designed to encourage 4-H members to learn more about the beef industry, meat science, and nutrition while developing marketing, communication, organizational and research skills. The 2025 Beef Poster Contest theme is Beef - Very Healthful, very delicious and should communicate the all-around health, nutrition, economic, etc. benefits of beef.

Rules

  • Poster must be on 22-inch by 28-inch poster board.
  • The finished poster should be appropriate for use on a billboard.
  • Write your name, address, age, grade in school and parish on the back of the poster in the upper right corner.
  • The poster should generate positive images and promotion of beef, not live cattle production, using the indicated theme, without projecting any negative messages towards other agricultural commodities, for example chicken, pork, seafood, etc.
  • You can use magazines, parents, friends, nutrition bulletins and meat publications to develop your ideas but the end concept should be original and not copied material. Materials are also available from your local supermarket, butcher, The American Meat Institute or National Livestock and Meat Board.
  • Do not use copyrighted material. Pictures, clip-art and materials such as cartoon characters, advertisements and logos that are copyrighted may not be used on the poster and the poster will be disqualified. Computer generated clip-art may be used on the poster if it is not copyrighted material.
  • Entries submitted after January 17 will not be eligible to place first, second or third or win cash prizes.
  • Contest divisions are grades 4 through 6, grades 7 through 9 and grades 10 through 12.

Awards

All participants in the parish contest will receive ribbons. Cash awards will be given to first, second and third place winners. First place posters will be sent to Baton Rouge and entered in the State Beef Poster Contest. A 4-H member is allowed to win each division only once at the state contest level.
