Contest Guidelines

  • The 2023 Caldwell 4-H Communication and Career Contest will be held at Union Central Elementary School on Monday, January 23.
  • The contest will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will consist of demonstrations and a career preparation interview.
  • You must preregister for this contest by contacting the 4-H office at 318-649-2663 by January 18.

Categories

Demonstration

A demonstration can be presented by an individual or a team of 2 contestants. Contest divisions for demonstrations are grades 4 and 5, grades 6 to 8, and grades 9 through 12. The time limit for the demo is 5 to 7 minutes with points deducted for every minute over 7 minutes. The Demonstration must be a method demonstration on any subject, not an illustrated talk. A demonstration is showing how to do something while telling how to do it.

Career Preparation Interview

The Career Preparation Interview divisions are grades 4 and 5, grades 6 to 8, and grades 9 through 12. Dress appropriately for a short interview with judges that will last 5 minutes or less.

Awards

First, second, and third place winners will receive cash awards. All participants will receive ribbons.
