The Demo Day event details, registration link, and rules for each contest are posted in the Demo Day Contest tab at www.lsuagcenter.com/ascension4hHere are the lists of contest offered:
We are super excited to be bringing back a contest from our 4-H past with some tweaks and added features! This January at Demo Day (Jan 14th), Ascension 4-H youth will have the opportunity to show off their outdoor culinary skills with a Chicken Barbeque Contest! This will be our parish preparatory and selection contest for the State Commodity Ambassador Contest which now has 3 BBQ contest options. We will be focusing on Chicken, but can offer assistance for those interested in the additional options (Beef & Turkey). Be on the lookout for more specific contest details and guidelines to be posted on our website and will soon be advertised on our Facebook Page with our Demo Day contest rules. If you would like to sponsor a contestant or volunteer to help conduct the contest, please contact the 4-H office or email Mrs. Stephanie at sgravois@agcenter.lsu.edu!
Don’t forget to apply to get your Honor Cords to wear while walking at your high school graduation! You have worked hard during your 4-H career so wear your honor cord PROUDLY! Applications are available and must be submitted online at Senior Honor Cords (lsuagcenter.com).It takes less than 5 minutes to complete! Applications are due by January 28th!The cords will be sent to the Ascension Extension Office and you will be notified for pick up in early spring.

It was a success! With your help, we have sold 18,780 lbs. of sweet potatoes and 2,448 lbs. of pecan halves!! The money raised will help to support 4-H programming, end of the year awards, and scholarships for camps & graduating seniors. Congratulations to Bryson Delaune from Lake for being the top seller for this year! The Top selling club is St. Amant Primary!! Congratulations!
Enrolled Ascension 4-H members are eligible to participate in the 4-H BINGO contest! It is the intention of the LSU AgCenter to conduct livestock shows as originally planned but given the health concerns with COVID-19 there is no guarantee that the LSU AgCenter Livestock Shows will occur as advertised. With that in mind, all livestock show participants and families should note that purchase and/or validation of animals is at their own risk and financial investment.

Our 3rd and final (& most popular 😊) cookery contest of 2021 will be here before you know it!! The dish drop off will be the Monday, December 13th from 8:00 am until 5:30 pm. All items need to be transported on ice, this may seem silly, but it’s proper food safety! After receiving feedback from parents and our judges our cookery guidelines have been adjusted to reflect the changes so please be sure to check the Facebook event page or the website for the most up-to-date contest rules. If you have any questions please email Mrs. Stephanie or call the office! The Categories are Cakes, Cookies, Candy, and Pie!! Helpful Hint: Make sure your recipe easily fits one of the 4 categories.
