2023 Talent & Art Show

Contest Description:

This contest provides the opportunity for Livingston Parish 4-H members to display their talents through visual art submissions or a performance! Entries for both contests are due to the 4-H office November 20, 2023. No late entries will be accepted. Talent show winners will be invited to perform and art show winners will be invited to display their entries at Achievement Day on April 26, 2024. Talent Show Rules:

  • Each club may select one act to represent them. Acts can be individuals or groups.
  • Entries will be split into three divisions: Junior (4th-5th grades), Intermediate (6th-8th grades), and Senior (9th-12th grades). **Group acts with members in multiple grades will be put in the division of the oldest member.
  • Contestants must bring all equipment or props needed for their performance. A microphone and chair will be provided.
  • Music must be submitted ahead of time on a USB or CD. If no music is submitted the performance will be done without background music.
  • Talent show form must be completed and submitted to the 4-H office by Nov. 20, 2023. No late entries will be accepted!

Art Show Rules:

  • All 4-H members can enter. Each member can submit one entry in each category. Categories include:
    • 2-D art- any medium on paper, board, or canvas; cannot exceed 24”x24”
      • Examples include paintings, drawings, pastels, collages, etc.
      • Materials attached must not exceed ½ inch thickness
    • 3-D Art- any medium or material; cannot exceed 48”x48”
      • Examples include sculpture, woodworking, metal work, origami, crafts, etc.
    • Home and Style- any wearables or home décor items
      • Examples include jewelry, hats, blankets/throws, pillows, cross stitch, wreaths, rugs, etc.
    • Photography- color or black and white photos, cannot exceed 8”x10”
      • Pictures can be mounted or framed, but this must not exceed 12”x12” and will not be factored into judging.
    • Writing- poems and short stories, typed
      • Short stories must be at least 1 full page and cannot exceed 5 pages
  • Entries will be split into three divisions: Junior (4th-5th grades), Intermediate (6th-8th grades), and Senior (9th-12th grades). **Categories may be subdivided if 5 or more pieces are entered in the same category AND division.
Entries must be the work of the 4-H member. Art show form must be completed and submitted with the artwork to the 4-H office by Nov. 20, 2023. No late entries will be accepted!

**Art from pre-made kits will NOT be judged!
