Research Associate (Entomology) - East Baton Rouge - R00062186

(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position through 11/14/22. Funding must be available for any continuation of appointment.)

Work Locations: Department of Entomology, Life Sciences Building, Louisiana State University

Responsibilities: An independent, highly motivated individual is needed to manage a program of research investigating the biostimulant and resistance-inducing properties of natural extracts derived from wood. The individual will be expected to maintain cultures of plants in the greenhouse, assist in designing and executing experiments to test the effects of elicitor application on plant growth, yield, and resistance to pathogens and insects, and summarize results for reports. Opportunities for independent research projects will be available.

Qualification Requirements: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in horticulture, entomology, agronomy, plant pathology, or related field is required; a master’s degree in one of these fields and experience with horticulture are highly desired. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in cultivating plants in controlled environments and a background in natural products chemistry. The incumbent must be physically capable of working in greenhouse and field environments, and supervision of student workers will be required.
