Charnel Bailey

Mr. Charnel Bailey has served 4-H for several years in various roles. He was a Rosepine 4-H member for 9 years, Vernon Parish 4-H Livestock Club Leader for 14 years, 4-H Parent for 12 years, Parish 4-H Advisory Committee member for 7 years, Parish 4-H Livestock Advisory Committee Member for 8 years, Parish Fair Board Member for 6 years, and Louisiana 4-H Foundation Trustee for 4 years. He also served as a Vernon Parish Police Juror for 11 years. He has been recognized with the Vernon Parish 4-H Friend of 4-H Award and Louisiana 4-H Livestock Superintendent’s Award and was inducted into the Vernon Parish 4-H Hall of Fame and the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame. As a member of Vernon Parish 4-H Livestock club, Charnel made recommendations for the fair and 4-H show, planned fundraisers and activities, enlisted donors, obtained show pens, helped youth select calves and goats for the show, and worked with youth to help provide grooming and showing techniques for his parish and across the state. Charnel helped assist and conduct the annual Livestock Expo, where he promoted the event, got sponsors involved, recruited judges, and served as ring man. Not only did he help start the event, but he also helped families facing financial issues haul their show animals. He assisted 4-Hers complete their livestock record books and helped collect DNA from show animals. Charnel is a great advocate for 4-H and helped prepare youth to share their stories and show their animals to Senior Citizens and at Head Start Pre-K days. He also helped secure funds for events, contest awards, scholarships, and camps. Charnel has been a strong leader for 4-H, starting as a member in 1976 and continuing to serve the program today.
