Job Description: The Field Crop Pathology Lab at Louisiana State University is recruiting a Research Associate. The primary responsibility will be to assist with planning, coordinating, and executing field experiments on plant disease epidemiology and management. The individual will also be expected to assist with greenhouse and lab experiments as needed. Primary tasks associated with the job include, but are not limited to, setting up fungicide trials, data/sample collection, disease rating, conducting inoculation experiments, isolation and storage of pathogens etc. The individual is also expected to assist the PI it tasks that will ensure the smooth functioning of the lab. Individual will have the opportunity to participate in scientific meetings and contribute to writing manuscripts.
Qualifications: BS/MS in plant pathology, or related field. Preferred qualifications include experience working with soybean or other field crops, conducting pesticide applications, conducting small plot experiments, operating farm equipment, and basic plant pathology lab skills. Individual is expected to be a fast learner, with good communication skills, and have a collaborative nature. A valid Louisiana State driver’s license and ability to drive is required at the time of appointment or soon thereafter.
