Research Associate - East Baton Rouge - R00056508

(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position through June 2022.Continuation will be dependent on funding, job performance, and continued need for the appointment.)

Work Location: School of Renewable Natural Resources, LSU Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Nature of Work: Research Associate will perform genetic and data analyses to support ongoing Largemouth Bass research. Participate in ongoing laboratory (e.g., genetics and conservative tracers) and field activities (e.g., fishes, benthic invertebrates, and water quality collections, etc.) related to an integrated long‑term research project; assist principal investigators in the design and direction of research activities, as well as data analyses, reporting, and publication of results.

Qualification Requirements: MS in fisheries management, aquatic ecology, or related biological field; experience with operation and maintenance of water quality monitoring and field collecting techniques for fishes, aquatic insects, and invertebrates; experience with database management and programming, and GIS and Microsoft applications; ability to complete PCR analyses of bass tissues and complete microsatellite-based determination of sub-specific identity; ability to use genetics software; ability to work well independently or within collaborative teams.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
