Beef Poster Contest

Louisiana 4-H is hosting the 2021 Louisiana Beef Industry Council Beef Poster Contest. This contest encourages youth to learn more about the beef industry while promoting the beef industry nutrition and products.

This contest is open to all 4-H’ers, 4th-12th grades. The poster can be either done on a “22x28” poster board or digitally using Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Canva.

The deadline to submit all posters is March 5, 2021. For more contest rules and regulations contact Mr. Xavier.

Beekeeping Essay Contest

Honey bee colonies have developed many ways to stay healthy. Their immune responses range from behaviors such as grooming to using materials such as propolis, a plant-derived substance bees coat on the interior of a hive for antimicrobial purposes. Even the gut of the honey bee contains beneficial bacteria to help the bee stay healthy!

Take part in the annual National 4-H Beekeeping Essay Contest. For more information let Mr. Xavier know and the deadline to submit is March 5.

Draw-A-Dairy Billboard Contest

Louisiana 4-H is hosting the 2021 Draw-A-Dairy Billboard Contest. This contest encourages youth to learn more about milk and milk products and their importance to healthy bodies. Through creative and original thinking participants will develop a visual form of marketing communication to convey thoughts and ideas.

Open to 4-H members in grades 4th – 12th, youth will be placed within their respective division based on their grade level. Posters must be on a 22” x 28” regular poster board ONLY, no digital submission allowed!

The deadline to submit your poster is March 5, 2021. For more contest rules and regulations contact Mr. Xavier.

Emerald Achievement Award

Are you 15 years old or older as of January 1, 2021? Consider applying for the 4-H Emerald Achievement Award! 4-H members who apply must have at least three (3) years of 4-H Club work, including this year, have completed one (1) year of active Jr. Leader work, excluding this year and score at least 360 points on the application scorecard. 4-H members can only win this award once.

Golden Clover Award

Are you 14 years old or younger as of January 1, 2021? Consider applying for the 4-H Golden Clover Award! 4-H members who apply must have at least two (2) years of 4-H Club work, including this year and score at least 250 points on the application scorecard. 4-H members can only win this award once.

Information Regarding Award

Pet Show

4-H members and Cloverbud members, are you a responsible pet owner? Consider participating in the annual Pet Show. This contest will take place Monday, April 19 beginning at 5:00 p.m. NO large livestock or snakes will be allowed to participate. The following classes will be offered:

  • Small Dogs (0-20 pounds)
  • Medium Dogs (21-40 pounds)
  • Large Dogs (over 40 pounds)
  • Cats
  • Birds
  • I Wish Pet
  • Unusual Pet (may be any domestic pet, not listed in any other category. No animals found in the wild are permitted.(Example: alligators, squirrels, raccoons)
  • Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Mice, Hamsters, Gerbils, and other rodents
  • Fish, Amphibians & Reptiles

Regional Culinary Arts Illustrated Talk Contest

The annual Southeast Region Culinary Arts Contest allows 4-H members to develop and demonstrate leadership and communication skills by improving their understanding of the economic importance, versatility, and nutritional value of Louisiana Commodities.

Open to 4-H members in grades 4 through 12, this contest will take place Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at the Ponchatoula Lions Club in Ponchatoula, LA. One youth per category per division will be allowed to represent East Feliciana 4-H and choices will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Spring Cookery Contest

Calling all inspired chefs! Participate in the Spring Cookery Contest. This contest will feature the following dishes: Egg, Poultry & Seafood. Dishes must be dropped off at the 4-H Office between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 19 as judging will begin at 10:30 a.m.

This contest is open to both 4-H members and Cloverbud members. Members must follow the following rules, or they will be disqualified.

  • Members can only submit one dish per category
  • Dishes must be transported on ice and in an ice chest to the contest
  • Non-edible items are not to be presented as part of the dishes or as a garnish. Only edible items can be used as a garnish
