Monday Marvels Week 2

'Koromo Shikibu' Rhododendron

It's another beautiful Monday at the Hammond Research Station! Take a gander at this week's Monday Marvels!

'Koromo Shikibu' Azalea is a beautiful and unique evergreen shrub that features "spider like" purplish-pink flowers with long petals. Koromo Shikibu azaleas grow well in areas that receive morning sun but are shaded from the afternoon sun. They need well-drained soil once established, but need adequate moisture during establishment. Maximum height and width is about 4 to 6 feet, making this azalea relatively compact in size.

Egao Corkscrew Camellias produce medium to large double pink flowers that are sure to brighten the winter landscape! Camellias prefer an acidic, humus rich soil, average moisture, and thrive in areas of the garden that receive light shade or morning sun! This camellia grows 6-8 feet in height and width.
