Denise Hymel, St. James Parish
Ms. Denny Hymel, a former 4-H member, has been an active 4-H volunteer for over 53 years. She has also served as the St. James Parish 4-H Advisory Committee Member, St. James Parish 4-H Foundation Board Member, State 4-H Foundation Board Member, as well as an American Farm Bureau Women’s committee representation for the South East Region, and the Chair of the Louisiana Farm Bureau Women’s Committee.
Perhaps the most significant contribution that Ms. Hymel has given to 4-H is creating The Fast Food Farm, a non-profit that she developed that offers her the opportunity to work with and educate 4‑H members and community youth.
Ms. Hymel has won numerous awards over the years for her dedicated service, including the NRCS Volunteer of the Year, and the Modern Woodman of America Hometown Hero. She has also been inducted into the FFA Hall of Fame.
Ms. Hymel is still involved with 4‑H today and said that she could not recall when she was not involved in 4‑H in some form. She was heavily involved while her children were growing up, and later, when her children graduated, assisted 4‑H agents with whatever they needed.
Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Denise Hymel to the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame!
