Linda Coates

Linda Coates, Livingston Parish

Mrs. Coates has been a part of the 4-H system for over 60 years. She has held many “hats” during her tenure, including a parent volunteer, club leader for 25 years, project leader, Master Gardener, Mentor, 4-H Advisory Board, Jr. Club Leader Advisor, and many other roles in which she has worked tirelessly.

Mrs. Coates encourages community service for her members and promotes their active participation in these projects. Her members have learned the importance of civic volunteering to help the underprivileged through food banks, clothing drives, toy drives, and fundraisers. Through fundraisers, she has educated 4-H members on health issues such as heart disease, congenital disabilities, and cystic fibrosis. Over the years, her members have raised thousands of dollars to help community groups and non-profits.

Furthermore, her focus on citizenship and leadership skills has encouraged her members to participate in lobbying issues such as flood control and 4-H program funding. 4-H members that she has taught in the past have gone on to lobby for these efforts, our have assumed political positions to help make a difference on issues that affect communities across the globe.

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Linda Coates to the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame!
