Changes to the 2021 St. Landry Parish 4-H / FFA Livestock Show

Changes to entry forms:

• All entry forms will be available via email and the St. Landry Parish LSU AgCenter website – if you would like hard copies sent you must request them
• All electronic forms will be fillable – if you have difficulties filling forms online and then printing please contact the St. Landry 4-H Office

Changes to Parish Show: (Revised 1/8/21)

• Pens will only be setup for swine and upon request due to the show being “show & go”
  • If you are able to tie your animal we ask that you do so
  • If making a pen request, please request the minimum amount you would need
• No camper spots will be available this year
• Champion, reserve champion, showmanship, and premier exhibitor awards will be ordered after the show - winners will receive certificates at show

• Friday, January 22^nd schedule
  • Only poultry and rabbits can arrive, no other animals will be allowed to arrive on Friday (no security will be provided)
  • Premier Exhibitor Contest will be setup at the Ag Arena between 4:30pm – 6:30pm Friday for exhibitors to come participate
    • Exhibitors can come at any time during this timeframe to complete written test and skill-a-thon
    • Exhibitors should bring their own pen/pencil
  • Poultry and Rabbits will show Friday (see revised Parish schedule)
  • Awards will be presented at conclusion of specie show
• Saturday, January 23^rd schedule
  • Animals will be allowed to start arriving at 6:30am
  • All animals must be in the barn and checked in by 9:30am
  • Show will begin at 10:00am
  • All specie shows will be show and go
  • There won’t be an awards ceremony at the end of the show, awards will be presented at the end of each specie show
• Safety Precautions
  • Practice social distancing
  • Wear masks indoors or when social distancing is difficult
  • Each participant is limited to two parent/guardian or other supporters. Supporters must be actively assisting exhibitor with their project. This is to assist show management with maintain fire marshal capacity.
  • No meals will be served
  • Sanitizing area will be available
  • All livestock families are required to sign and submit Junior Livestock Show Agreement

COVID-19 Statement

All exhibitor families will be expected to abide by whatever statewide mandates/guidelines are in place at show time and/or as established by the LSU AgCenter/Show Management, including social distancing and wearing masks. Exhibitors and parents, please be aware that the LSU AgCenter is a statewide governmental entity funded through federal, state, and local governments. As such, unlike privately funded shows (La. State Fair, breed association shows, jackpot shows, etc) we have no other option but to follow government mandated guidelines and regulations. Our current choices are to (a) conduct 2021 AgCenter shows following required guidelines, or (b) cancel these shows. If we are to provide our 4-H/FFA livestock shows as educational experiences for our young people in 2021, it will only be with your help and understanding. Your cooperation will be both appreciated and expected.

Given the health concerns with COVID-19 there is no guarantee that livestock shows will occur as advertised. With that in mind all livestock show participants and families should note that purchase and/or validation of animals is at their own risk and financial investment.

All Acadiana District Livestock Show and LSU State Livestock Show entries and applicable fees are due to the St. Landry 4-H Office November 23, 2020 with parish entries.

The Parish Premier Exhibitor Contest is open to all St. Landry livestock exhibitors and does not require pre-registration. If you are interested in participating in the Acadiana District Livestock Show Premier Exhibitor Contest (7^th-12^th graders) and/or the State Premier Exhibitor Contest (9th - 12th graders) you must pre-register by the deadline. The Premier Exhibitor Program is designed to place emphasis and recognition on the exhibitor’s knowledge and skills in the 4-H and FFA projects. The program provides additional awards and recognition to all exhibitors at the LSU AgCenter Livestock and Poultry Show.
