Mr. Jamey Allemond was a dedicated and pivotal adult volunteer in St. Martin Parish, where he was a physical education coach for over 16 years. He was an active volunteer when his own two children showed rabbits, poultry, and goats and participated in a plethora of other 4-H activities across the parish.

His assistance didn’t stop with his own kids. Mr. Jamey was always willing to assist others as well with fundraisers and workshops and even by answering questions for other exhibitors and their families. This past spring, the St. Martin Parish livestock program held their first ever crawfish boil fundraiser. The week before the event, Mr. Jamey called and asked what supplies were still needed. Not only did he round up all the necessary supplies, but he also brought extra volunteer support for the event. He never hesitated when it came to supporting the 4-H program in any way possible and served as constant encouragement for all youth while volunteering. He was also a lead-by-example type of volunteer. Instead of standing on the sidelines and encouraging youth to participate in workshops or programs, he would get down on the youths’ level and work with them to ensure a positive educational experience for all involved. He served as an adult volunteer at 4-H Summer Camp for three years and also volunteered at challenge camp and LOST camp, where he always had an extra ice chest on board. In addition to attending camps, Mr. Jamey also served on the parish level by assisting with club meetings at the school at which he worked, Teche Elementary. In 2018, he was awarded the 4-H Spirit Award from the Louisiana 4-H Volunteer Association. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone and was the most selfless human being. He would lend a hand to anyone that needed. His extreme zest for life and prankster attitude made you love him even more. He had an unimaginable amount of love and great memories that will forever be cherished. He will be greatly missed by the St. Martin Parish 4-H program. Please join us in celebrating Mr. Jamey Allemond’s well-deserved induction into the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame!
