Mrs. Sarah Jones has been a vital part of Sabine Parish 4-H for the last 16 years. She has committed her time to assist the students in the parish as a full-time volunteer, while also raising her own 4-H’ers. She has been a Sabine Parish Fair board member for three years and has served on the Sabine Parish advisory board for the past nine years and also serves as the secretary on the Sabine Parish 4-H Foundation board. In November of 2018, Sarah was elected to serve as president-elect of the Louisiana Volunteer Leaders Association. She has been a lifetime member of the Volunteer Leaders Association since 2008. She is also one of the Louisiana representatives for the Volunteer Conference of Southern States, where she will serve on the planning committee and work with other members via conference calls and emails.
Parishwide, she not only started the 4-H Club at Belmont Union Christian Academy, but she served as their organizational club leader for 14 years. Sarah pushed for this club because there were so many younger siblings attending parish events, and the parish needed something for this age group. She also currently serves as the Many High School 4-H Club sponsor. Mrs. Sarah plans, organizes and executes the meetings and field trips for this group. She has also been a Junior Leader volunteer since 2010 and has consistently chaperoned trips and attended camps and meetings while also planning fundraisers, working with service-learning committees, and driving students to practices, contests and events.
In addition to giving freely of her time, Mrs. Sarah provides monetary support to those with financial hardships. In 2017, she received the Sabine Parish Award for 15 years of service and also became a Bronze Level Master Volunteer with the help of her agent, Nan Arthur. In 2017, she also received the first Hall of Fame recognition for Sabine Parish at the parish awards night event. In 2018, Mrs. Sarah received the Salute to Excellence South Region Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Volunteer award and solidified her Silver Level Master Volunteer status. Given her numerous accolades and unyielding dedication to Louisiana 4-H, Mrs. Sarah has truly brought stability in Sabine Parish. Throughout her years of service, she has not waivered, whether she was helping with her own children's 4-H projects or a Cloverbud or 4-H’er who needed some extra help with his or her project. Mrs. Sarah Jones is always there and ready to help to get the job done. Please join us in welcoming her to the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame!
