As an active member of 4-H for 44 years and a volunteer for over 35 years, Mr. Chris Martin has truly dedicated his life to serving the public. He has been a 4-H Club leader for over six years and has served on several different advisories for 4-H. He has been on the 4-H Foundation board for over 15 years and currently serves as the foundation president. Additionally, for more than 10 years, Mr. Martin has been on the livestock show committee and has volunteered his time to photograph the parish shows. He has bought and provided many animals for the youth and worked with them on how to properly show, groom and feed the animals. Instrumental in starting both the East Baton Rouge Parish shooting sports program and the bee program, he has been a shooting sports volunteer for more than 10 years and has been an active Level 2 instructor for more than five years. He also helped start the East Feliciana Outdoor Explorer 4-H group and has been advising East Feliciana on their shooting sports and bee programs. Mr. Martin’s capacity and willingness to help knows no bounds. His dedication and support of the youth has been endless.
You can find him at events passing out awards, running a booth and even helping clean if needed. He has been crucial in East Baton Rouge Parish as he has ample knowledge about the program. One agent stated said, “I would not have made it my first year without his help and guidance.” He truly believes in helping the youth and strives to do what he can to make an impact. Let’s welcome Mr. Chris Martin to the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame!
