Summer Camp: Deposit is due March 25. Please make checks pay-able to: Franklin 4-H Foundation. Registration forms need to be turned in as well. Money and forms need to be turned into the 4-H office, not the school.

Beef Poster and Dairy Poster Contest Winners will be announced in the March newsletter if we have any entries.

If any youth 14 years and older would like to go to the Junior Leader Conference (JLC) in March; please make sure to turn in your form and money to the 4-H office by the deadline. This is a great conference to increase your leadership skills and make new friends. Do something different this year—Get involved on a new level. Put yourself out of your comfort zone.

Seniors: Make sure you are working on your scholarship packets. They need to be turned into the 4-H office by March 4th.

State Rabbit Show is March 2nd in Alexandria. If wanting to go, please let the 4-H office know so they can get you registered to go. You do have to pay to attend the event. Must have had your rabbit for 60 days in your possession.

Members of the garden club planting some spinach. They were able to taste fresh broccoli, greens and romaine lettuce. Still time to join. Feb. 5th 4:30 pm Scott Center. Cost $10.

March contests:

Recycle-Reuse contest. Show your creativity with this contest. Take something and turn it into something else. We’ve had some wonderful projects turned in. Due at your club meeting.

Jr. Leaders:

Meeting will be February 12th at 5:00 pm at the Scott Center. Please come prepared to talk about what you want to do for a community service project. Some ideas are the animal shelter, nursing homes, gardening project, making cookies/brownies for either the fire or police departments.

Good luck to all of our livestock participants at the Delhi Livestock Show and then at the State LSU Show. Hope that you do a great job. Results will be in the March newsletter.

Horse class is meeting the second Tuesday of the month. February 14th at 4:30 pm.

Horse papers will be due to the 4-H office on February 28th. If you have a grade horse, papers are needed by Feb. 20th so I can have time to go around and check horses.

Remember that only those that received a first place at the parish cookery contest will advance to the Area cookery contest on the 19th of this month.

Good luck to all of our participants: Laura Walters, Avery Dickerson, Jaiden McDonald, Sara McCarthy, Hailey Bellon and Eva Catherine Austin.

Collection of Pop Tabs

This is a community service that has been done for the last four years to benefit the Ronald McDonald home in Monroe, LA.

The reason the pop tab is used rather than the whole can is because the p p tab contains the highest pure aluminum and actually weighs more than the whole can. This in turns provides more money for the home so they are able to meet the needs of the families that stay there.

So the more pop tabs that are collect-ed the more money the home is able to collect. So keep up the good work and keep saving and collecting the pop tabs.
