Mrs. Brenda McCoy became a 4-H member in 1972 which led her to become a club leader in 1995. Brenda has led the 4-H club at Castor High School in Bienville Parish for 20+ years where she has been active on many advisory boards ranging from shooting sports, horses and northwest district livestock.
Brenda fully understands the importance of financial support and has hence solicited in-kind and monetary contributions of her own and led her club members in many fundraising efforts. She has also served as an officer in the volunteer leaders association and has served as a chaperone to many trips during her time span in the organization. Additionally, Brenda saw the value of project books and incorporated them into her science lessons which increased her student’s record book completion rates. She has also involved her clubs in the Claiborne Electric Energy Day for many years which served to increase their science knowledge. She was instrumental in creating a livestock club that met monthly and quickly grew to 75 members.
Due to her positive, hardworking attitude and innumerable contributions, Brenda has received several awards including: outstanding club leader, outstanding parish livestock leader awards, and outstanding parish club.
