LAROSE – The LSU AgCenter will offer a series of homebuilding seminars at this year’s French Food Festival.

David Moore, with the LSU AgCenter’s Disaster Recovery and Mitigation group, said the seminars are designed to help people rebuild or restore their houses strong enough to stand up against hurricanes and other strong storms that threaten Louisiana and be energy-efficient and termite-resistant as well.

“We have a staff of trained individuals who can speak on topics ranging from choosing an elevated foundation to redoing a roof,” Moore said. “We encourage anyone who is planning a rebuilding or remodeling project to attend our seminars and learn how to build to meet the special challenges of Louisiana's climate and conditions.”

The seminars will be held in a tent adjacent to the Larose Civic Center building, next to the large Folklife and Culture tent Oct. 25-26. In addition to Moore, LSU AgCenter educators presenting the seminars  will include Andre Olagues, Dennis Ring and Bill Robinson. The LSU AgCenter also will have a tent display at the festival.

The schedule for the seminars is:
