Students tour LSU AgCenter's pilot plant at the Audubon Sugar Institute.

Researchers involved with the Sustainable Bioproducts Initiative (SUBI) believe a key for the success of Louisiana's students is to introduce them both to the current science and practice and to the leaders in the field.

The Center for Energy and Environmental Studies, a division of the Office of Research and
Strategic Initiatives at Southern University, sponsors a math, science, and reading Summer
Enrichment Camp for K-8 students. Students enrolled in this day camp have an opportunity to visit the LSU AgCenter's Sugar Research Station, the AgCenter's Audubon Sugar Institute, as well as the biofuels pilot plant located in the Audubon Sugar Institute to learn about projects AgCenter researchers are involved in. Students in other Baton Rouge area schools take field trips to the research station and Audubon Sugar Institute to learn as well.
