St. Martin 4-H Ambassadors

The ability to express oneself and speak before a group is a life skill that a group of St. Martin Parish 4-H members practiced during the parish Commodity Ambassador competition Tuesday January 29, 2008. Presenting illustrated talks on the Louisiana agricultural commodities of seafood and poultry, they discussed the production, processing or marketing of the product, food preparation and nutritive value, or food safety related to the commodity. Division winners in each category will represent St. Martin Parish 4-H at the state competition to be held April 22 in Baton Rouge. Judges for the event were Nikki Lemaire, Lisa Benoit and Gerald Janise.

DIVISION I

Egg Ambassador  - Amber Addison, Parks Middle School

Chicken Ambassador -Jacqueline Fett, Parks Middle School

Turkey Ambassador - Erin Blanchard, Teche Elementary

Seafood Ambassador - Grace Richard, At Large

DIVISION II

Egg Ambassador - Taylor Serrette, Cecilia Junior High

Chicken Ambassador - Catherine Blanchard, Cecilia Junior High

Turkey Ambassador - Andre’ Goodyear, Parks Middle School

Seafood Ambassador - Valex Taylor, Cecilia Junior High

DIVISION III

Egg Ambassador - Josh Latiolais, Breaux Bridge High School

Seafood Ambassador - Hannah Thibodeaux, At Large

Other participants included the following: Justin Blanchard, Sydny Blanchard, Garrett Richard, At Large Club; Adele Richard, At Large Club, Jamani Barker, Cecilia junior High; Bethany Wright, Gabrielle Devillier, Daija Dalcourt, Garrett Blanchard, Matt Blanchard, Jake Delahoussaye, Parks Middle School.

The St. Martin Parish 4-H Club program is coordinated by local 4-H Agents Hope Guidry and Margaret Frey.
