St. Martin 4-Hers Excel in State Competition
Thirty senior 4-H club members represented St. Martin Parish during the 94th annual state 4-H University competition held at LSU. There were three state winners and 19 blue ribbon winners.
The Solutions Unlimited team of Jules W. Guidry, Mason Robin and Linda Nguyen placed first, winning an educational trip to Orlando. Jules is a member of the At-Large club who attends Teurlings High School. Mason attends Parks Middle School and Linda attends Cecilia High School.
First alternate winners in various contests were Jacob Albert, St. Martinville High in Small Engines Demonstration; Trey Thibodeaux, Teurlings High in Diesel Equipment and Operation; Kobie Renard, St. Martinville High in Resource Management Illustrated Talk; Kabrina Tyler and Amanda Estrada of Breaux Bridge Junior High in the Nutrition Illustrated Talk.
Other Blue ribbon winners are as follows: Hannah Thibodeaux, Teurlings High, 3rd place high point individual with Michelle Melancon, Cecilia High, 2nd alternate Automotive Driving team; Megan Conques and Josh Latiolais of Breaux Bridge High, third place team Computer Simulation; Jordan Guidry, St. Genevieve School and Lamar Louis, Breaux Bridge Junior High,Computer Simulation; Megan Roberts, Breaux Bridge High, Career Preparation Interview; Macy Boudreaux and Donna Guidry of Cecilia High, Entomology Demonstration; Robert Burkhardt, Teurlings High, Poultry Judging.

Guidry, Jennie McLeod; Cecilia High School: Cody Melancon; Parks Middle School: Chase Bijeaux, Linsey Stelly; St. Bernard School: Ashley Hebert; St. Martinville High School: Telecia Broussard.
Chaperones who assisted in dorm duties and transporting contestants to their competitions and educational events were Vickie Albert, Belinda Broussard, Sheila Champagne, Rebecca Clark,Tremaine Rossyian and Barbara Tyler. St. Martin 4-H Agents Hope Guidry and Margaret Frey supervised and coordinated the parish participation.
