(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position through August 1, 2019. Funding must be available for any continuation of appointment.)
WORK LOCATION: School of Renewable Natural Resources, LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, La.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Research Associate position is intended to assist in research outputs pertaining to field and laboratory testing of the shrimp industry as well as research and outreach for additional crustacean fishery projects.Responsibilities will include; laboratory bioassays; field work; event set up; maintaining equipment on trailer; and interactions with commercial shedders and fishermen in Louisiana.The successful applicant would begin May 2018.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: B.S. degree with two year or more of relevant experience or M.S. degree in Marine Biology, Biology, Fisheries, Zoology, Agriculture, Aquaculture or related field.Willingness to travel to various locations in coastal Louisiana, possess a valid driver’s license, and a good driving record are required. Applicant must possess experience in some, or preferably all, of the following: (1) Previous experience marine research is desirable, (2) Experience pulling large trailers, (3) Ability to work evenings and on weekends, (4) Ability to go on overnight or multiday trips on commercial fishing vessels, and (5) Ability to work independently, create work plans, meet deadlines, collaborate as a team, and work in difficult environments.
