(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position. Funding must be available for any continuation of appointment.)
WORK LOCATION:School of Renewable Natural Resources, LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will be responsible for research that supports the use of zebrafish as a medical model for human diseases. Duties include conducting acute and chronic exposure experiments on larval and adult zebrafish.The successful candidate is expected to perform zebrafish stock maintenance and routine breeding to provide newly fertilized embryos.This position requires conducting behavioral screening assays using video analysis tools on newly hatched larvae.Finally, this position will couple locomotor work with immunohistochemistry and molecular tools to provide physiological and molecular insights into disease pathology.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Minimum of a M.S. in biological sciences or a related field or a B.S. in biological sciences or a related field and 12 months relevant experience. Applicant must possess experience in some, or preferably all, of the following: (1) experience with video microscopy and immunohistochemistry, (2) understanding of zebrafish husbandry and routine recirculation water quality, and (3) experience with acute bioassays and developmental toxicity assays. Ability to work independently, create work plans, meet deadlines, collaborate as part of a team, and work in difficult environments critical.
