WORK LOCATION: Department of Entomology, LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, LA.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The successful candidate will conduct research on the chemical ecology of plant-insect interactions in rice, other grasses (e.g., Phragmites), and soybean. The scientist will assume leadership of ongoing research projects on the biochemical and morphological bases of constitutive and inducible plant resistance in these plants. The scientist will also assist in managing the day-to-day activities in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Stout, including mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students and supervising undergraduate workers. The scientist will also be expected to publish the results of his/her research in refereed journals and to pursue extramural funding from various sources, including USDA-NIFA and NSF.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in Entomology, Biochemistry, or related discipline with experience in the separation, isolation, identification, and quantification of plant natural products.
