WORK LOCATION: Hill Farm Research Station, LSU AgCenter, Homer, Louisiana.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Responsibilities are to provide day-to-day management of the forestry research experiments on the Hill Farm Research Station and several off-station experiments. Work will include planning and establishment of research plots, collecting data in field and laboratory, managing fertilization, vegetation control, and harvesting operations according to research protocols established by forestry research project leader. Additional responsibilities will include maintenance of equipment, supplies, and facilities, ordering of supplies and chemicals, plant and soil sample preparation for chemical analyses, and such other duties as may be necessary for the research projects. This position will occasionally require some overnight travel to plots located in diverse parts of the state.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have a Baccalaureate degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or closely related field. Minimum 2.5 GPA desired. Preference will be given to applicants with practical experience working with forestry research programs. The applicant must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work with and through others is essential as well as the ability to function with minimum supervision.
