Research Associate

(Water Quality Research)

(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position. Funding must be available for any continuation of appointment.)

WORK LOCATION: Red River Research Station, LSU AgCenter, Bossier City, Louisiana.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The successful candidate for this position will be providing technical support on research projects related to on water quality, nutrient runoff, and nutrient leaching from crop fields. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the establishment, daily maintenance, and sampling (soil, water, and plant) of field plots and the completion of laboratory experiments. The position also will be responsible for supervising student and transient employees. The position also requires some weekend travel and overnight stays to visit experimental sites. Other duties as may be assigned as necessary to complete research projects.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The minimum qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture, Environmental Science, or closely related field. Proficiency in Microsoft office, Excel, basic statistics, basic GIS mapping, excellent communication skills, ability and willingness to learn new things, ability to work as part of a team, ability to work independently without supervision and ability to work outside in non-ideal environments are highly desired. Applicants with previous experience with field crop research, water quality monitoring, and laboratory analysis skills are preferred.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
