(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position for one year. Funding must be available for any continuation of appointment.)
WORK LOCATION: School of Plant, Environmental and Soil Sciences, LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Plant Stress Molecular Biology Laboratory of the School of Plant, Environmental, and Soil Sciences is seeking a research associate to conduct studies to understand the abiotic stress responses in rice. The incumbent will use contemporary genetic tools to decipher the function of stress responsive gene(s) at the whole plant, cellular, molecular and biochemical levels.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Candidates with a Ph.D./M.S. in plant molecular biology, cell biology, plant biotechnology or other related plant biology fields are encouraged to apply. The applicant should have demonstrated record of experience in one or more areas of molecular biology and biochemistry including but not limited to gene/protein expression and DNA/protein-protein interaction. The candidate should be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Experience/working knowledge in genome engineering via gene editing is a plus.
