RANK AND NATURE OF POSITION: Assistant Professor (Food and Agribusiness Marketing/Management), nine-month tenure track. The position is 60% Research (Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station) and 40% Teaching (LSU College of Agriculture)
WORK LOCATION: Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The primary responsibilities of this position are teaching and research in the area of agribusiness economics and management with emphasis in marketing. The successful candidate in this position will be expected to develop a nationally recognized program in agribusiness; develop working relationships with industry and state agencies; work as a member of interdisciplinary teams; and possess excellent communications skills. The incumbent will play a significant role in the department’s undergraduate and graduate level agribusiness programs including teaching up to three courses annually and supervising graduate students. Publication of research journals in major disciplinary journals, experiment station/departmental publications, and the use of other appropriate outlets for distribution of research results to clientele groups is expected. Cooperation with other components of the LSU AgCenter and College of Agriculture is encouraged. Service activities within the university, such as participation in departmental, college, experiment station and campus committees, are expected.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics or closely related field with emphasis in marketing, management, finance, or business administration. Interest in an applied research program with a focus on small and/or large rural businesses related to the production, processing, and distribution of food and fiber products with emphasis on regional or export-based systems is strongly encouraged. Human relation skills required to work with a variety of professional and user audiences is necessary to meet job responsibilities. Must be able to contribute to both graduate and undergraduate degree programs.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
