(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position. Funding must be available for any continuation of appointment.)
WORK LOCATION: Red River Research Station, LSU AgCenter, Bossier City, Louisiana.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: A fulltime research associate is required to assist applied research and extension program in row crop irrigation and nutrition. The program conducts research on the response of agronomic crops to irrigation and nutrition. Position responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following: 1) establishment, maintenance, and harvesting of field plots and laboratory experiments; 2) collection of data on various plant parameters and soil moisture; 3) collection and analysis of soil and plant tissue samples; 4) establishment and operation of irrigation systems. Other duties as may be assigned as necessary to complete research projects. The position also requires some weekend travel and overnight stays to visit experimental sites.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A minimum qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture, plant science, or closely related field. Proficiency in Microsoft office, excellent communication skills, ability and willingness to learn new things, ability to work as part of a team, ability to work independently without supervision and ability to work outside in non-ideal environments are highly desired. Applicants with previous experience with field crop research, agricultural irrigation, and use of various farm equipment are preferred.
