WORK LOCATION: LSU School of Plant, Environmental & Soil Sciences, LSU AgCenter and LSU College of Agriculture, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The School of Plant, Environmental, and Soil Sciences seeks applicants for a 12 month (50% research, 25% extension, and 25% teaching), tenure-track position specializing in application of precision agriculture technologies to on-farm crop production systems. The incumbent will develop a nationally recognized, externally funded research program on theory and applications of remote sensing, crop modeling, and site-specific recommendations to complement ongoing research in areas of crop production, plant pathology, plant breeding and related disciplines. This includes developing remote sensing applications useful to better understand crop growth and development. The successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate / graduate level courses (one per semester) on a two-year rotation period of four courses. The incumbent will serve as a remote sensing program resource for research scientists, extension agents, consultants, commodity groups and other clientele. The incumbent will develop remote sensing applications useful to better understand field variability factors, crop growth and development and the development of prescriptive solutions.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in soils, agronomy, plant physiology, or closely related discipline. Willingness to work closely with others and ability to teach is required. Some travel is required. Excellent verbal and written communication is required.
