Assistant Professor - Research

(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position. Funding must be available for continuation of appointment)

WORK LOCATION: Department of Plant Pathology & Crop Physiology, LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, La.

NATURE OF WORK: Plant scientist with a strong background in plant genomics, molecular biology and physiology with emphasis on corn/maize. The successful candidate will examine aspects of infection and aflatoxin production by Aspergillus flavus on corn lines of varying response. Possibility for microbiome experiments addressing effects of biocontrol application on the plant and soil populations. This will also require familiarity with fungal host-parasite interactions and fungal secondary metabolite production. This is a self-funded position dependent on the researcher’s ability to secure outside funding.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A PhD in the plant sciences or related area is required. Degrees in other fields will be accepted if combined with related work experience. Demonstrated ability to pursue research objectives to completion through publication and ability to attract outside funding to support the program are essential. The position requires the ability to work cooperatively with others.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
