(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position through 1 May 2018. Funding must be available for continuation of appointment)

WORK LOCATION: School of Renewable Natural Resources, LSU AgCenter, Baton Rouge, La.

NATURE OF WORK: The Research Associate position is intended to assist in research outputs pertaining to field and laboratory testing of the soft shell crab industry as well as research and outreach for additional crustacean fishery projects. Responsibilities will include; laboratory bioassays; field work; event set up; maintaining equipment on trailer; and interactions with commercial shedders and fishermen in Louisiana. The successful applicant would begin August 2017.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: B.S. degree with two year or more of relevant experience in Marine Biology, Biology, Fisheries, Zoology, Agriculture, Aquaculture or related field. Willingness to travel to various locations in coastal Louisiana, possess a valid driver’s license, and a good driving record are required. Applicant must possess experience in some, or preferably all, of the following: (1) Previous experience marine research is desirable, (2) Experience pulling large trailers, (3) Ability to work evenings and on weekends, (4) Ability to go on overnight or multiday trips on commercial fishing vessels, and (5) Ability to work independently, create work plans, meet deadlines, collaborate as a team, and work in difficult environments.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
