POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Louisiana State University AgCenter, Department of Entomology is seeking applicants for a full time Research Associate position in the area of mosquito biology, surveillance, and control. In addition to research responsibilities, the Research Associate will be required to write up findings and present annually at the LMCA meeting, which is held each December. Candidates must be willing to work outdoors. While a Master’s degree is not required for this position, any experience or education in the field of mosquito biology, especially relating to Culex or container Aedes is preferred. After the first year of employment, the candidate will be eligible for tuition remission (up to 6 credits per semester). Funding is immediately available for this position. This position will remain open until filled.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in a related discipline (biology, entomology, zoology, microbiology, etc). A Master’s degree in a related discipline or at least 2 years’ experience working in mosquito biology and control, especially as it relates to Culex or container Aedes is preferred.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options. Benefits offered include retirement, multiple medical insurance options, supplemental insurances (dental, life, long-term disability, accident, vision, long-term care, etc.), Tax Saver Flexible Benefits Plan (saves tax dollars on some child care and medical expenses), university holidays (14 per year, typically includes a week off at Christmas), generous annual (vacation) and sick leave benefits, Employee Assistance Program, and possible educational leave and tuition exemption for coursework at campuses of the LSU System.
